The Gordon Center for Black Culture and Arts
Client Background
The BC&A, a newly created non-profit organization dedicated to commemorate the history and promote the cultural, educational, and artistic development and enrichment of the African Diaspora through its programs and activities, including those which advocate social justice. This shall ensure the continuance of the legacy and philosophy of the work of Drs. Edmund and Susan Gordon.
Brief & Approach
I was commissioned by The Gordon Center for Black Culture & Arts to create a logo as part of their brand identity. The solution was to create a logo that includes a type treatment of their name, and had to also be gender non-specific. The final logo was inspired by a statue of a man holding a shell, which represents revolution. The statue is located at Champ de Mars in Haiti.
